Remox is a combination of Minoxidil, Tretinoin and Azelaic Acid, Hydrocortisone and Progesterone both in the spray and lotion formulas.

Promox is Remox with the addition of finasteride. Promox is prescribed for men and/or postmenopausal women with severe cases of hair loss.

Azelaic Acid is a very weak acid (weaker then vinegar). However, scientific research has shown that even very low concentrations of it inhibit 90% of DHT formation in vitro. The mechanism of action is 90% inhibition of 5 alpha reductase activities. 5-AR is the enzyme that converts human serum to testosterone, to DHT, which is the compound thought to be responsible for damaging hair follicles and an important factor in hair loss.

Progesterone is a hormone naturally produced by both men and women. During the aging process, when the level of progesterone falls in men and women, the conversion of testosterone into DHT increases dramatically. Progesterone is the chief inhibitor of 5-AR (mentioned above). Progesterone inhibits the body from converting testosterone to DHT by binding to 5-AR.

Because Remox uses both Azelaic Acid and Progesterone, it can block in excess of 95% of scalp DHT and is also an excellent vasodilator at the hair follicle level. Maximum hair growth will result.

Finasteride's hair-raising success is due to its ability to specifically inhibit 5-AR, the enzyme that converts testosterone into a more potent androgen DHT. The American Hair Loss Association recommends finasteride as the first line of attack for all men interested in treating their male pattern baldness.

In December 1997, the FDA approved a 1mg dose of finasteride for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (Male Pattern Baldness) in men. Propecia is the first drug in history to effectively treat male pattern baldness in the majority of men who use it.

Minoxidil is an antihypertensive vasodilator medication. When applied topically, it is widely used for the treatment of hair loss. It slows or stops hair loss, and promotes hair regrowth. Now off patent, it is available over-the- counter for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia in both males and females.

Minoxidil must be used indefinitely for continued support of existing hair follicles and the maintenance of any experienced hair regrowth. It is the only topical product that is FDA approved for androgenetic hair loss.

Tretinoin Topical tretinoin is a prescription medication used for treating multiple skin issues. Although it is not a significant hair growth stimulant, applying it to affected areas can enhance the effects of minoxidil. It alters the outermost layer of the skin, so that it does not form a hard compact layer of cells. This allows for better absorption of minoxidil.

Hydrocortisone Hydrocortisone can be used to relieve itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions.

Latanoprost Latanoprost is the therapeutically equivalent drug to bimatoprost, which is the active ingredient in the prescription eyelash- growing product Latisse. It’s been found to further help with hair density and regrowth.
